Unfortunately, the information in these beginning-reader books is minimal and sometimes confusing ("Eels need �slime]. It helps them swim"; but how?), and there are inconsistencies across the series in glossary word choice (e.g., fur is defined, scales is not). Large, clear stock photos add some interest.
